రచనా నేపథ్యం
1954 జూలై 14న పశ్చిమ గోదావరి జిల్లా తనుకులో జన్మం. తెలుగు సాహిత్యంలో MA చేసి 'శివ' (1989 — RGV) తదనంతరం 'క్షణ క్షణం' (1991), 'గాయం' (1993), 'మణీ' (1991) వంటి కల్ట్ చిత్రాలకు మాటలు రాశారు.
నటనా యుగం
1986 'లేడీస్ టైలర్'తో నటనా అరంగేట్రం. 'రామ్ గోపాల్ వర్మ' క్యాంప్తో మొదలై తర్వాత ప్రతి తెలుగు దర్శకుడితో. 250+ చిత్రాల్లో సహ-నటన — తండ్రి, స్వామి, పూజారి, రుషి, పెద్ద ప్రొఫెసర్ — ఆధ్యాత్మిక-తాత్త్విక పాత్రలకు ఒక బ్రాండ్గా ముద్ర. 'పూరి జగన్నాథ్', 'శ్రీను వైట్ల', 'సుకుమార్' చిత్రాల్లో నిత్యం.
దర్శకత్వం + గౌరవం
'మిథునం' (2012) — తల్లి-తండ్రి ప్రేమ ఇతివృత్తం; విమర్శనా అత్యధిక ప్రశంసలు. 'కుచ్చనపండు' (2015). తెలుగు సాహిత్యం, రంగస్థలం రెండింట్లోనూ గౌరవ సీనియర్ — లోక-నాయక్ ఫౌండేషన్ అవార్డులు అనేకం.

Writing Roots
Born 14 July 1954 in Tanuku, West Godavari district. Holds an MA in Telugu literature. Wrote dialogues for RGV's 'Shiva' (1989) and the early-90s cult run that followed — 'Kshana Kshanam' (1991), 'Gaayam' (1993), 'Money' (1991).
Acting
Acting debut with 'Ladies Tailor' (1986). Through 250+ supporting roles across four decades, Tanikella Bharani has settled into a distinct register — fathers, priests, philosophers, gurus, mentors. The 'spiritually-grounded character actor' lane is essentially his to define in Telugu cinema. A favourite of Puri Jagannadh, Srinu Vaitla, and Sukumar.
Direction + Recognition
Directed 'Mithunam' (2012), a tender depiction of a long-married elderly couple, which won broad critical acclaim. He commands rare respect across Telugu literature and theatre simultaneously; honoured with numerous state and cultural-foundation awards.
