ప్రారంభం
1973 ఆగస్టు 3న కాకినాడలో జన్మం. 1990ల చివరి - 2000ల ప్రారంభంలో సహాయ హాస్య నటుడిగా 80+ చిత్రాల్లో. 'శంకర్ధాదా జిందాబాద్', 'మాస్', 'పోకిరి', 'మహాత్మ', 'పెయింట్ హౌస్' వంటి హిట్లలో గుర్తింపు పొందిన ముఖం.
హీరోగా మార్పు
2010లో S. S. రాజమౌళి దర్శకత్వంలో 'మర్యాదరామన్న' — చిన్న-బడ్జెట్ హాస్య మాస్-యాక్షన్ చిత్రం; సునీల్ హీరోగా అరంగేట్రం + హిట్. 'పూలరంగడు' (2011), 'మిస్టర్ పెళ్ళికొడుకు' (2013) తో హీరో-కామెడీ స్లాట్ స్థిరం. తర్వాత 'జంబలకిడి' (2014), 'జాకీ' (2015), 'ఎరా దే ఇది' (2016) వంటి చిత్రాలు.
సహ-నటనకు తిరిగి
2017 నుండి హీరో-స్లాట్ తగ్గింది; 'F2', 'F3', 'వాల్తేర్ వీరయ్య', 'ధమకా' వంటి హిట్ల్లో సహ-హాస్య నటుడుగా తిరిగి మారారు. తెలుగు సినిమాలో అరుదైన హాస్య-హీరో-సహ-నటన ముక్త్రంగ కెరీర్.

Origins
Born 3 August 1973 in Kakinada. Spent the late 1990s and early 2000s as a steady supporting-comedy presence across 80+ films — Srinu Vaitla's films, 'Mass' (2004), 'Pokiri' (2006), 'Mahatma' (2009) etc.
Lead Pivot
2010 was the inflection point: 'Maryada Ramanna', directed by S. S. Rajamouli, gave him a comedic-mass-action lead and a hit. 'Poola Rangadu' (2011), 'Mr. Pellikoduku' (2013), 'Jakkanna' (2018) followed in the comic-lead register. The supporting-actor-to-lead transition is rare in modern Telugu cinema; Sunil's is the most-cited successful execution of it.

From around 2017 onward the lead-slot work has thinned, and he has returned to high-impact supporting comedy across 'F2', 'F3', 'Waltair Veerayya', and 'Dhamaka'. The full arc — supporting → lead → supporting — is its own template now.
