ప్రారంభం
1956 జూలై 19న నరసరావుపేటలో జన్మించిన రాజేంద్ర ప్రసాద్, ఉస్మానియా విశ్వవిద్యాలయం నుండి ఎంబీఎ. తొలుత హైదరాబాదు బ్యాంక్ ఉద్యోగం; నాటకరంగంలో సహజ నటనను గుర్తించిన దర్శకుడు బాలచందర్తో 'స్నేహం' (1979)తో అరంగేట్రం.
జంధ్యాల యుగం
1980లలో జంధ్యాల దర్శకత్వంలో 'ఆహా నా పెళ్ళంట!' (1987), 'శ్రీవారికి ప్రేమలేఖ' (1984), 'రెండు రెల్లు ఆరు' (1986) — ఈ చిత్రాలు రాజేంద్ర ప్రసాద్ను తెలుగు సినిమా చరిత్రలో ఒక శైలికి కేంద్రంగా చేశాయి. 'ఆహా నా పెళ్ళంట!' తెలుగు సినిమా క్లాసిక్గా నిలబడింది; మాటల ఆధారిత హాస్యం, పాత్రల అపహాస్యం, కుటుంబ-సాంఘిక సందర్భాలు — జంధ్యాల-రాజేంద్ర ప్రసాద్ సంయోజనం ఒక యుగం.

Origins
Born 19 July 1956 in Narasaraopet, Andhra Pradesh, Rajendra Prasad holds an MBA from Osmania University and worked in banking before director K. Balachander discovered him for 'Sneham' (1979). The screen persona — earnest middle-class everyman, exquisite comedic timing, slightly bemused by the world — was already fully formed by the early 1980s.
The Jandhyala Era
The defining partnership of his career was with director Jandhyala. 'Aaha Naa Pellanta!' (1987) is now considered a Telugu situational-comedy canon film, and 'Srivariki Premalekha' (1984) and 'Rendu Rellu Aaru' (1986) anchored the decade. Dialogue-driven humour, gentle send-ups of character archetypes, family/social vignettes — the Jandhyala-Rajendra Prasad register defined an entire era of Telugu comedy.
The Long Second Act
From the 2000s onward he successfully pivoted into senior comedic-character + paternal-mentor roles. 'Vennela' (2005), 'Varudu' (2010), 'Orange' (2010), and more recently 'Gang Leader' (2019), 'Rajaraja Chora' (2021) and 'Shaakuntalam' (2023) keep him in active rotation. He has acted in more than 200 films and remains one of the most reliable bilingual comedic performers in Telugu cinema.
