ప్రారంభం
1940 సెప్టెంబర్ 16న తూర్పు గోదావరి జిల్లా కాకినాడలో జన్మం. 'భక్త తుకారాం' (1973)తో నటనా అరంగేట్రం, K. విశ్వనాథ్ - బాపు - రాఘవేంద్ర రావు దర్శకుల చిత్రాల్లో మంచి రొమాంటిక్ హీరో పాత్రలు. 70ల చివరి - 80ల మధ్యలో 'శంకరాభరణం' (1980 — సోమయాజులు పాత్రకు సహ-నటుడు), 'సాగర సంగమం' (1983), 'శుభలేఖ' (1982) వంటి విశ్వనాథ్ క్లాసిక్ల్లో పాత్రలు.
క్యారెక్టర్ యుగం + వ్యాపారం
1990ల నుండి సహాయక + తండ్రి + ముఖ్య పాత్రల్లో 250+ చిత్రాల్లో. 'జయం' (2002), 'సాగర సంగమం' (విశ్వనాథ్ హిట్), 'ఆనంద్' (2004), 'శ్రీమంతుడు' (2015) — ఇవి అతని క్యారెక్టర్ యుగం హై-పాయింట్లు. వ్యాపార రంగంలో — 'జయభేరి ఆర్ట్ప్రొడక్షన్స్' స్థాపన, రియల్ ఎస్టేట్ + హాస్పిటాలిటీ వెంచర్లు.
రాజకీయ ప్రవేశం
YSR కాంగ్రెస్ - తర్వాత TDP నుండి రాజకీయ ప్రవేశం. 2014లో రాజమండ్రి నుండి TDP తరఫున లోకసభ ఎంపీ. తర్వాత పార్టీ పదవులు, AP అభివృద్ధి సంబంధిత కమిటీలు. తెలుగు సినిమా + వ్యాపార + ప్రజా జీవితం — మూడింట్లో సమతుల్యత పాటించిన అరుదైన నాయకుడు.

Origins
Born 16 September 1940 in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Film debut with 'Bhakta Tukaram' (1973). Through the late 1970s and 1980s he was a dependable romantic lead in films by K. Viswanath, Bapu, and Raghavendra Rao — and a frequent supporting presence in Viswanath's classical-arts canon: 'Sankarabharanam' (1980), 'Sagara Sangamam' (1983), 'Subhalekha' (1982).
Character Phase + Business
From the 1990s he transitioned full-time into supporting, paternal, and mentor lead roles, accumulating 250+ films. 'Jayam' (2002), 'Anand' (2004), and 'Srimanthudu' (2015) sit among his second-phase highlights. Off-screen he founded Jayabheri Art Productions and built sizeable real-estate and hospitality ventures.
Public Life
Entered politics through the Telugu Desam Party, served as a Lok Sabha MP from Rajahmundry in 2014, and has continued to hold party advisory positions on Andhra Pradesh development committees. Telugu cinema, business, and public life — sustained meaningfully across all three is unusual, and his arc is often cited as a template for the actor-turned-statesman model in South India.
